Dear Mr Sperring,
I am reaching out with deep concern regarding the impact of the recent Executive Order (EO). While the EO itself is not law, I have gotten word that Children’s cancelled life saving surgeries for at least 3 families this week.
I know your institution is under immense pressure, and unfortunately, you are choosing the wrong path here. Why have you begun canceling appointments? Why are you yielding to external pressures?
I want to be clear: I do not believe that the doctors who dedicate their lives to caring for our children are "caving." I know they are devastated. But hospital administrators and legal teams are making decisions based on funding threats rather than patient well-being. The immediate capitulation of clinics we believed would be strongholds is not just disappointing—it’s dangerous. We are at risk of losing children, not just in terms of healthcare but in terms of hope. If a trans child’s care is cut, it will have severe consequences. Without access to essential healthcare, trans children may lose the ability to envision a future where they are supported, valued, and have autonomy over their own bodies. We do not have time to lose these kids. Many families look to Seattle Children's as a beacon of support in an increasingly hostile landscape.
So, I ask you directly: What is Seattle Children’s stance on supporting trans youth? There is no neutral position in this fight. Will the hospital uphold its commitment to care, or will it continue to give in to political and financial pressure? I appreciate your time and consideration and look forward to your response.
Sincerely,

FOR AGs

I am asking for your support in affirming the rights of WA citizens and youth in their right to medical care that bests supports them and until yesterday medical professionals agreed was in their best interest. This shift is not out of a concern for the individuals involved but more out of a fear of repercussions. As AG you have the power to influence the decision here. Please stand up and speak out against Seattle Children's decision to withhold this lifesaving care out of a fear of persecution. We need to hold the line for the sake of the human rights and dignity not only of these children but also of ourselves.

There is no neutral position in this fight. Will you allow Seattle Childrens hospital to move forward with these discriminatory practices and forgo its commitment to care?
I appreciate your time and consideration and look forward to your response.
